Protagonist for over fifty years in the computer and telecommunications industry, former vice president of Olivetti, and the father of Italian venture capital, Elserino Mario Piol passed away last night in Milan at the age of 91.

Born in Limana, Belluno, on December 8, 1931, Elserino Piol was one of the leading figures in Italian technological innovation, creating value for the companies he worked for, foremost among them Olivetti, and those he helped create, from Tiscali to Yoox (Ynap.com). He also played various roles in stimulating publishers, businesses, and young individuals towards innovation for the future of the country.

A great visionary and innovator who leaves behind an important legacy to the country through his writings, his books, and the Elserino Piol Foundation.
